To provide an understanding of the structure of the back, the causes of pain, methods of assessing risk and adopting lifting techniques likely to avoid damage to the back
Any Manager, Supervisor or Operator who has responsibility for manual handling operations or undertakes manual handling duties
Objectives
- Enable delegates to identify the legal obligations within the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
- To familiarise delegates with the Manual Handling Operation Regulations 1992 Explain the key factors affecting manual handling
- Enable delegates to carry out the four main elements of a manual handling risk assessment
- Educate delegates as to how accidents occur and discuss control strategies
- Understand the four causes of back pain
- Demonstrate safe lifting techniques
